Memories of Winter
Awww Ice Skating! My favorite winter memory and that was the challenge today for Monday Funday at the Piece of Scrap message board.
I found this photo by searching google images but that could have been me. My skates looked like that and we skated on a pond outdoors so we were out there with the sun shining many times!

SWS challenge 4
Today's challenge at the SP Stamps blog was all about coloring! The challenge to use your SP & Company stamps and color on your card.
I don't have any of the SP stamps that require coloring so I used a springlike stamp I had on hand. I colored the image with my SU markers and used a sentiment from the SP & Company Ultimate Sentiments set which I stamped below the image

Happy Valentine's Day
Today's Scrappy Saturday challenge at the Piece of Scrap message board was to create a valentine's card in non-traditional colors
while looking through the Cricut.com messageboards I saw this card in greens, blues, and had hearts on it so I thought what a cool idea for a valentine card, so I cased it. I used CTMH papers, a cuttlebug embossing folder and CTMH stamps on this card

OWH midweek throwdown!
The midweek throwdown this week at the OWH Stars and Stamps blog
for this first one I cut a flower in red cardstock from the accent essentials cricut cartridge, added a white brad, then I embossed a white strip of paper matted on black, glued the flower on that strip then stamped a simple thinking of you sentiment in red ink
again I used the black and white strips, cut a heart from the accent essentials cricut cartridge and used two different stamps for the sentiment
thanks for looking!
is to use black, white and one other color to create a card for our heroes to send home to family and friends

FCCB challenge 94
this week's challenge at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog was to use a snowflake or snowman image on your project. I'm always using snowman images so for this challenge I chose to do a snowflake.
I chose to use a snowflake image from the Don Juan cartridge. I cut it with a shadow. The paper is from a DCWV stack and the saying is from Unity Stamps

white cards
To celebrate the January release of the new stamps from SP & company at Scrapmaster's Paradise they had a blog hop to see some fantastic cards that the design team made. After we "hopped" we were challenged to make a white card
I made two of them! I love the look of white! For my cards I used a white cardstock base. I embossed another white piece of paper with a sizzix embossing folder and then popdotted that on the white base. Added a flower (from Prima) and stamped a couple sentiments (from SP & Company, the Ultimate Sentiments 1 set)

SWS challenge 3
this week's Stamping with Sami challenge at the SP Stamps blog was to use blue and white on a card
I somewhat followed this week's cardpatterns sketch with the strips of patterned paper (from Stampin Up)
The sentiment is from the SP & Company stamp set Ultimate Sentiments 1

Tall Oaks Scrap Retreat
This week's Monday Funday challenge at Piece of Scrap was to scrap a layout about how you spend a snow day. I like to spend the days I'm snowed in scrapping or cardmaking so my layout was definitely going to be that. However I couldn't find any good pictures of me scrapping at home so I decided to use this challenge to scrap some pictures of a scrap retreat I went to in May 2009! Feels good to get those pictures scrapped

Tanner is 10
I finished my first layout for 2012!!! This layout was created for a Scrappy Saturday challenge at Piece of Scrap a small online community that I participate in.
The challenge was a recipe challenge
to use circles, a cluster of embellishments, ribbon, photos, 2 pieces of patterned paper, inking, and the color orange (which I cheated on a little, the only orange is the icing on the cake)
I love the way it turned out, if only all my layouts were this cute :)

DYSU #53, Let It Snow!!!
Today's challenge on the Do You Stack Up Challenge blog was Let It Snow!!! And that's exactly my thoughts for today. I live in Wisconsin where it should be 15 degrees with 10 inches of snow on the ground on January 5, but not this year! Today we set a record high of 53 degrees! We have no snowcover and it just doesn't feel like winter so when I saw this challenge I had to create my snow!
On both cards I used white and marina mist cardstock and ink from Stampin Up. Snow themed embossing folders .. one from SU and one from cuttlebug and my favorite snowman image Frosty, an older retired stamp from SU. On the one card I added a sentiment again from SU. On this card I also colored a few areas of the image with my marina mist marker.
Not quite as nice as real snow, but for a January day that set a record high in this part of Wisconsin it will have to do :)

cup of chocolate birthday card
Today's challenge at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog was called "warming up with hot cocoa"
The challenge was to use a cup or chocolate or color brown on your project so I used the cup of coffee from the Winter Frolic cartridge.
I also used Stampin' Up papers and cardstock and the sentiment is one I've had forever from I don't know where! I used Happy Birthday because I'll be giving it to a coworker tomorrow for her birthday

You're Sweet
I'm starting the New Year with making a card for a challenge on a new blog!
The new blog is the SP Stamps blog and their first challenge is to stamp something using a stamp set from SP & Company.
I'm thinking ahead to Valentine's Day and used the Hearty Hearts background stamp set and the Ultimate Sentiments stamp set to create this card. The cardstock is from SU and the chalk ink is from colorbox. Thanks for looking!
