OWH midweek throwdown!

This week's midweek throwdown at Operation Write Home is to make a miss you card for a child. That is a challenge for me! I don't have kids, and most of my nieces and nephews are adults, so I don't have many stamps for kids. I do however have a cricut and with my animal kingdom cartridge I created this little lion. Stamped the punny sentiment with some cheap alphabet stamps.
Thanks for looking! I made 2 of these and they are the last two cards for my next package! I want to get it sent out tomorrow or Friday so the valentine cards make it by January 7!

OWH challenge #9

today's vacation challenge at Operation Write Home is to make a card that isn't pink! I love this bright blue owl paper so decided to do something with that .. it's definitely not pink!

The bird and hi are cut with my cricut using the Cricut Lite cartridge Cherry Limeade. The cardstock and paper are from Stampin' Up.

I miss you

This week at Operation Write Home they are doing Holiday vacation challenges.
While I don't get any vacation days between the holidays I did get a chance to take part in challenge #8 .. to make a Missing You card. This was a very simple card using some premade flower stickers and a stamped miss you sentiment

Happy Birthday!

A birthday card for my nephew Jason.
I used a sketch from Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Blog, sketch #49
The colors for the card came from Scrapmasters Paradise Color Challenge #80 ... always artichoke, river rock and soft suede.
The stamp set I used is On the Fly from SU

Scrapmaster Color Combo #78

Crumbcake, Marina Mist and Bashful Blue was the colors for this week's challenge at Scrapmaster's Paradise. I made a couple of Winter themed cards with this challenge.

The first card's sentiment is cut with the Cricut Lite Jolly Holidays cartridge in white with a bashful blue accent. The card base is crumbcake with a layer of Marina Mist. I added some snowflake brads.

This card has a crumbcake base with white and marina mist layers. The snowman image is a digital freebie from Spyders Corner. I colored him with my SU markers. The sentiment is a $1 stamp from Joanns. It was stamped with Marina Mist ink on bashful blue cardstock

Both cards were based on sketches from the Sassy Lil Sketches forum (www.sassylilsketches.com) Thanks for looking!

oh the weather outside is frightful!

We're under a blizzard warning here in Western WI. We've had about 10 inches of snow since last night and now the wind is blowing it all around. I have drifts to my waist in my backyard, I can't even see my backyard .. the windows on that side of the house are snowcovered! The wind blew that hard!

I've been inside all day keeping myself warm and dry, working on my Christmas cards. I made a few plus with what I had on hand I addressed 29 cards to send out on Monday! The cards shown below are the ones I made today. I made only one card of the little elf and wagon, the image is a cut from the Jolly Holidays cricut cartridge. I outlined everything with a black pen as he didn't show to well on the background I chose. I put a tree (also from that cartridge) in his little wagon.
I made 2 of the Santa cards. The santa is a cut from the Jolly Holidays cartridge and the HoHoHo is a stamp. I made 4 of the Joy to the World card. Pretty simple card to make .. the music notes are from a piece of patterned paper, added some ribbon and stamped the sentiment. Thanks so much for looking .. stay warm and safe!

OWH midweek throwdown .. Be Mine

I know that most of us are working on Christmas cards, but over at Operation Write Home we're thinking valentines! The deadline for Valentine cards is January 7 so this week's Midweek Throwdown challenge was to make a valentine card.

I used a cricut lite cartridge called lacy labels to make the design on this card and then added some clearance ribbon with little hearts on it to make it complete. Cardstock is Stampin' Up Real Red and Whisper White

new cricut cartridge

When my sister was braving the crowds early this morning for some Black Friday shopping she did me a huge favor and picked up a cricut cartridge at Walmart that was on sale. The cartridge is a new cricut lite one called Jolly Holidays.

The cards that I made include the skating snowman, ornaments and wreath images from the cartridge. So cute! and thanks to my big sister for saving me from having to go shopping at 12 am! The skating snowman card is for her :)

S & S Sketch Challenge #43

This week's sketch at the Stars and Stamps blog was a challenge. I very rarely add elements sideways but on this sketch it was that way so I made a couple cards that way too. I need to make Christmas cards as most of the ones I've made during the year were sent to the troops through Operation Write Home's card program.
I used one of my favorite stamps .. it has a snowman and a robin :) two of my favorite things to collect.
On the first card I used some SU markers to color the image. The sentiment stamp is also SU. The patterned paper is Basic Gray and the cardstock was some kraft cardstock I had on hand... added a couple buttons from my stash. The second card I colored the image with pencils, the patterned paper, cardstock and rubon sentiment are all SU

I just finished making 6 of these cards for a swap. The card is almost completely cased from a card I saw in a Paper Creations magazine (I only changed the stamp sets)
The patterned paper is from Graphic 45. Cardstock, inks, and stamp sets are all Stampin' Up.

yesterday I printed this free image from Di's Digi Downloads. I have a friend who loves penquins so I couldn't resist making a penquin card for her. All supplies on the card are Stampin' Up.

SPCC #72

This week's color challenge at Scrapmaster's Paradise was to use the colors Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight and Pretty in Pink on your project. Nice summery colors so I decided to use a flowered stamp set to continue the summery feel on this card I made for a friend. I stamped the flowers on white cardstock and colored them with markers than cut them out and attached to the card.

The next two cards are for the midweek throwdown .. to create a masculine card. The first card was made once again with SU products and the sentiment is from Studio G. The second card I used a bunch of scraps and my newest cricut cartridge ... Country Life .. to create this nice farm scene.

Sassy OWH Love Card

The Operation Write Home midweek throwdown challenge for this week is to make an anniversary or love card. Today when I looked at the Sassy Lil Sketches reveal for Oct. 14 they had a great sketch to work with so I combined them both. Several months ago I purchased these little buttons for $1 at Michaels with the idea of doing a heart with them and I finally got the chance. However, they are heavy! so I don't think I'll send them to OWH, but will probably use it as a Sweetest Day card for someone special this weekend. The cardstock, punch, and ribbon are all from SU. The sentiment is Making Memories as is the buttons.

Scrappy Vacation!

I'm on vacation this week!! No plans to go anywhere, just hanging out at home catching up on cleaning, scrapping, cardmaking, also doing some shopping, things you just don't have enough time for when you work all week. These pages were all scrapped on Monday and Tuesday, the first page has a bad light reflection on it, but I'm too lazy to retake it!

Sassy Lil Sketches Card Crazy!

This month Sassy Lil Sketches is going Card Crazy!! Every Monday this month in honor of World Cardmaking Day they have a card sketch. Using the sketch from October 4 I made these two cards. I've had the sheep ribbon ($1 at Michaels) for a long time thinking I'd use it on something for my sister or brother and families (who raise sheep) instead I made a couple thank you cards for friends. The image didn't scan well, the oranges are better matched in real life :)

Using the sketch from October 11 I made the following card for my friend's birthday which is coming up this weekend. The papers are from Close to My Heart

Sympathy card

This past week has definitely not been the best week of my life. Last Thursday my boyfriend's father lost his battle with cancer. His wake and funeral were on Sunday and Monday. I went back to work on Tuesday and learned that the mother of our company president passed away on Sunday. Her funeral was today and this is the card I made to send to the family...

I used this week's sketch at Operation Write Home (sketch #37).. a great sketch to work with and one I'm sure I'll be using again, and it may be to make a thinking of you card, I also learned on Tuesday that my nephew Tyler's friend, Mikail, had died. Mikail was only 21 years old, although he did have a genetic disease that they are thinking led to his untimely death. Like I said, it hasn't been the best week of my life.

Birthday card

Browsing through the latest issue of Papercrafts I saw a card that I really liked the layout of and it included a handmade flower, which was a recent challenge at scrapfreak.com.
I had these couple pieces of baja breeze patterned paper that I knew would fit on the card, so I went through some past color challenges and found one to use white and rich razzleberry with baja breeze .. so that's how this card came to be! I made it a birthday card as I need a birthday card for Saturday

I'm going to a party with my Stampin' Up demo and a dozen or so friends. As part of the celebration we are making cards for a card swap. I made this card with the cute little owl punch from Stampin' Up. The patterned paper used is from a retired pack and my base is River Rock, my new favorite cardstock color! However you are celebrating Saturday, I hope it's a great day

OWH Monday 9/13 Challenge

Monday's challenge was to do a challenge that you haven't done yet this month. I was interested in a lot of the challenges that the Hero Arts Flicker site had over the weekend, but didn't have time to make any so this challenge I did tonight!

I took on the challenge to use words only on your card. I got this set of word stamps from my Stampin' Up demo back in July. I hadn't used them before but when I saw the words only challenge I immediately thought of that stamp. The first card I made was pretty boring, so the second one I added some hearts that I cut from my cricut. So much better! Plus that was another of the challenges, to use a heart on your card!

Here is the boring card I made first, with the words only. I think I need a cuttlebug so I could do some embossing to add something to the card!

Casing Martie!

at OWH the challenge for Friday 9/10 was to case the featured cardmaker Martie!
Looking at Martie's cards they were clean, simple and stylish! I chose a card and cased the striped paper background with the stamped image placed right in the middle of the card. I made a couple Christmas cards, the paper, inks and cardstock are from Stampin' Up, the rubber stamps are from Northwoods Stamp Co.... the snowman is one I use time and time again!

OWH birthday challenges

Here are a couple more cards done for the birthday month challenges at Operation Write Home
this first one is a challenge by Sandy, to use an angel on a card. The only angel stamp I had is a Christmas one I got last year at Walmart for like a $1! Here it is along with some paper and ribbon from my stash

this card is the weekly sketch challenge at the Stars and Stamps blog (9-5-10). This week along with using the sketch we were to use yellow and have a thank you theme. The image is a rubon and isn't it the cutest! all product for this card is from stampin' up

OWH midweek throwdown 9/8

the challenge for this week's midweek throwdown at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps blog is to create a fall themed thank you card. I love to use this stamp from Stampin' Up, an older set called Thoroughly Thankful, on a lot of my fall themed cards. You can use the entire image (as I did here) or just a portion of it
