challenge cards

here's a couple cards I finished on Saturday
they are based on a sketch posted at pieceofscrap.com and I made a holiday card and love card as the OWH stars and stripes blog issued a challenge to make one or the other .... I, of course, made 1 of each to keep my box equal for the 1/2 and 1/2 card drive  :)

OWH midweek throwdown

This week's mid week throwdown at the Operation Write Home stars and stamps blog was to use red and green on your card.   I used my new set of stamps from Hero Arts to make a couple quick cards.  The ink, cardstock and papers are all stampin' up, the star is a gold brad

Operation Write Home Sketch #138

I spent this weekend at a motel with 24 other people for a weekend craft retreat
I spent my time making cards for my next Operation Write Home box, lots of fall, winter and Christmas cards and this morning I used today's sketch at the OWH blog to make this card:

The paper is from a stack of holiday papers from Hobby Lobby
The stamp is a Hero Arts stamp that I recently got at Archivers
The markers I used are Stampin' Up and the sentiment is from SP & Company Stamps

Operation Write Home bonus sketch

This month Operation Write Home is celebrating it's birthday!  and we're going to party all month long

to start the party month we were given this bonus sketch:

and here is the card I created:

The image on the card is a dearie dolls digi stamp.  This site has such cute images!  I colored it with prismacolor pencils.  The paper is from a DCWV Christmas stack and the sentiment is a SP&company stamp.  The fun this week at OWH is sponsored by Lawn Fawn. I don't own any of their stamps but after seeing their cute stuff I will probably add them to my collection soon!

2 final challenges at OWH

I finished the last 2 challenges for the Operation Write Home VCMP!!    Thanks to the girls who posted such fun challenges, I enjoyed doing every one of them

The first card was for a triple layer stamping challenge.  I've never done anything like this before and it was so fun and easy and looks terrific, I will be doing it again!

The second card was for a challenge to use a neglected tool.  I decided to dust off the cuttlebug and use that to emboss this card.  I also used 2 embossing folders that I had never taken out of the package and for added measure used my corner punch!   The flowers were from an unopened package I think I got in March!  The sentiment stamp is a very old Making Memories stamp, definitely used some old neglected product on this!

more cards for the OWH VCMP!

I'm on a roll!!  I have gotten most of the challenges done (there were 10) and I still have some time tomorrow for some crafting to finish the couple I didn't get done

here are the other cards I finished this evening:

This card was for the sports challenge.  I originally made a card similar for a niece's birthday and cut two of the image thinking I may need it again sometime, that sometime was today!  The image is from the Sports Mania cricut cartridge

The above two cards are for the challenge to make Christmas cards for a child and for a hero

This card was for the challenge to use a horse/cowboy on your card.  I used the cricut cartridge County Fair for both the image and sentiment

This card is for your state challenge.   Our state bird is the robin, and since my name is Robin I own a couple robin image stamps.  This image is more of the likeness of a european robin than the american robin

OWH VCMP!!

This weekend I have been creating cards for the Operation Write Home Virtual CardMaking Party (VCMP)

I've gotten 4 of the challenges finished so far:

This card was for the Recipe Challenge .. 1 image, 2 patterned papers, and 3 words.

This card started out to be sketch 136 but in the end doesn't look too much like the original sketch but that's okay, sketches are just a starting point for most people

This card was to use snowflakes but not on a Christmas card

This card was to use a quote or inspirational verse, I unfortunately do not own many stamps that are quotes or verses so this was the best I can do!

Happy Fathers Day!

This is the card I made for my father
it was inspired by a card I saw at the Splitcoast Gallery by lorilk
the stamp set is Farm Life, the cardstock is red riding hood, white and chocolate chip and colored with prismacolor pencils
the father's day sentiment is Memory Makers and the Dad stickers by My Little Shoebox

I thought this stamp was appropriate for my dad as he's lived on the same farm in Western Wisconsin for nearly 80 years!  Although he no longer milks cows, he does continue to bale hay every summer for my brother and sister to feed to their sheep

OWH midweek throwdown .. tropical colors

This week's midweek throwdown at the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps blog was to use tropical colors on your cards .. such as orange, pink, purple, yellow.  For the month of May Scrapmaster's Paradise was also doing a color challenge for orange.   Bright colors are usually something I don't play with so I decided to make a couple cards for these challenges.

On both of these cards I used paper from the Echo Park country drive collection
the flower stamps and inks used are from Stampin' Up
the sentiment banners and words are SP & Company stamps
on the top card I added orange brads to the flowers, on the bottom card I added buttons

National Scrapbook Day 2012

Hello Friends

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend celebrating our scrapbooking holiday.  I was able to get a few layouts done this weekend .. 6 of them!   Most of them were for the La Crosse Loggers album that I'm doing.  The Loggers are a collegiate summer league baseball team we have season tickets for.  The players come from all over the country hoping someday they will make it to the big leauges .. and some of them have!  Such as Max Sherzer, Chris Sale and Jordan Pachecko.  Someday maybe one of these players will be there too!

The first layout I made was for a sketch challenge at Creative Scrappers:

another sketch layout I did was found on Scrapbook Challenges:  This was a fun one as you had to do a blog hop through the design team to get the pieces of the sketch

then I did a challenge to use words from a song as your title, this one uses the words from Take Me out to the Ballgame

a layout to use night photos .. both this layout and the above were challenges found at Have Your Way With Paper

and finally, a challenge at scrapfreak, to use a natural background with bright colors on the rest of the layout.  This is my little great-niece Isabella, I just found the photos last week or they may have been scrapped before now!

thanks for looking and Happy National Scrapbook Day!

Scrapmaster's Paradise color challenge

This month's stamp release challenge for the SP & Company stamps at the Scrapmaster's Paradise blog was to use the color lavender on your project, this is definitely a color I don't use very often!

I chose to make a card using a rosette, which was also a tutorial shown on the SP blog this week.  I added a punched flower to the middle of it

I chose a sentiment from the SP & Company stamp set Ultimate Sentiments

Scrapping at Crescent Moon Retreat!

I spent the past 3 days getting my craft on at the Crescent Moon Retreat. It's a new craft retreat house that has opened in La Crescent, MN which is just 15 short minutes from my home. Six friends joined me and we scrapped, stamped, quilted, made flower bouquets, visited, ate and had lots of fun. Can't wait until we do it again!

These 6 layouts are just a few of the ones I completed. In all I finished 15 pages and all of my 2009 pics are now scrapped :) Feels good to get another year down in the memory books. I also managed to make 5 cards during the weekend also

OWH midweek throwdown meets sketch #110

This week's midweek challenge at the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps Blog is to use a digital image on your card. There is a prize involved and that is from Bugaboo stamps so I chose to use a bugaboo image on my card. I haven't ventured into the world of copic coloring markers yet so the image is colored with prismacolor pencils. I chose to leave a sentiment off the front of the card, that way it can be used for any occasion. I also used this week's sketch from the same blog, I love sketches :)

Use It Tuesday Challenge 25

It's a Birthday Party this week on the Use It Tuesday blog! They are celebrating their one year birthday so the challenge was to make a project with a birthday theme and of course as the Use It Tuesday blog challenges every week.. use your stash!

For the birthday card I made I used a bugaboo digital stamp. I colored the image with my prismacolor pencils, I love coloring with them but I don't use them often enough! The cardstock and dotted patterned paper are some of the older papers in my stash,

butterfly card

Several months ago I found a cute shaped like a butterfly card on the cricut message boards
Today I decided to make one for myself, it was so easy and it turned out so cute!

The first thing you do is cut two bases using the shadow feature (for this card I used the serenade cartridge and one of the butterfly images)
then you make a score for the fold about 1.5 inches from the top, glue the two pieces together from the top to the fold and this is your card.

Next I cut the butterfly image's regular and layer cuts and glued them to my base. I trimmed the bottom of the butterly wings to a flat cut so the card would stand up.

I used Stampin Up products for my card and I'm going to send it to a former coworker .. she retired at the end of last year and now she's going through some tough times. Her mother passed away a couple weeks ago and next week she has to have back surgery so I thought I'd send her a cherry looking card.

SWS challenge 7

This week the stamping with Sami challenge at the SP Stamps blog was to make a card with a love theme

I used this week's sketch from the Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps blog to make my card. First I used the hearty hearts background stamps to stamp two of the strips of paper. Next I used my Ulitmate Sentiments 1 set to stamp "I love you" on the second strip of paper. I accented the larger strip with gray cardstock and the smaller strips with gray ink

SP February Blog Hop

For the month of February to intoduce their new SP and Company stamps the Scrapmaster's Paradise blog is challenging you to use bright red on your project

I was inspired by Sami's featured card kit and used the inspiration to make a gift box with red cardstock. I embellished the top with hearts cut out with my cricut and embossed with my cuttlebug. I stamped a sentiment on it and there is my box. I filled it with doved chocolate hearts .. yummy!
